Pac-10 Conference officials came to Boulder to welcome Colorado to the conference Friday in a press conference on the club level at Folsom Field. But questions remain about when CU will begin play in the league and what it will cost to make the move.

With Nebraska announcing its move to the Big Ten beginning in 2011, Colorado could now be forced to speed up its timetable for separating from the Big 12 and starting to compete in the Pac-10.

Much will depend on what other members of the Big 12 do in the coming days. It could end up that the Big 12 folds after losing too many members, meaning the Buffs wouldn't have to pay to make the conference switch.

At this point, Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott said the plan is still for the Buffs to enter the league for the start of the 2012-13 school year.

“What a special day,” Scott said. “This is an historic and landmark day for the Pac-10 Conference.”
