Former Colorado linebacker Alfred Williams has earned induction to the College Football Hall of Fame. CU athletic director Mike Bohn and associate athletic director Dave Plati called Williams' sports talk radio show this afternoon to make the announcement live on the air. The official announcement comes tomorrow at 10 a.m. MDT.

"Oh my goodness," Williams said when he heard the news.

Williams was recruited to Colorado by former coach Bill McCartney, who was also on the ballot for the first time this year but was not selected. Williams' former teammate running back Eric Bieniemy also was on the ballot for the first time this year but was not selected.

Williams played at CU from 1987 to 1990 and was a leader on the only national championship team in school history as a senior.

Williams also won the Dick Butkus Award that season. The award is given every year to the nation's top linebacker. Williams was a two-time All-American and a unanimous selection as a senior.

Williams remains Colorado's all-time leader in quarterback sacks.
