DALLAS - University of Colorado men's basketball player Blair Wilson was named Phillips 66/Big 12 Player of the Week after a pair of solid games for Colorado last week. The junior guard/forward posted his first double-double at Kansas and later scored a career-high 26 points against Missouri.
Iowa State's Tim Barnes averaged 15 points in two games and was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Rookie of the Week. The 6'0 junior guard recorded a career-high 23 points in the win against Kansas State. Both honors are chosen by a media panel.
Wilson opened the week with his first-ever double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds in CU's 94-87 loss at No. 6 Kansas. The Broomfield, Colo., guard/forward was 9-for-15 from the field at KU. Wilson scored a career- and game-high 26 points (6-for-10 three pointers) in CU's 89-68 home win over Missouri. He also tied his personal-best in steals with four and his six three-pointers against Mizzou were a season-high.
For the week, he averaged 23.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.5 three-point field goals. Wilson is the CU all-time leader in minutes played without fouling out (2,052). Wilson won the honor in a split vote over Oklahoma senior Hollis Price and Texas sophomore T.J. Ford.
Wilson is second in team scoring (13.9) and the team leader in 3-pointers made (70) for the Buffaloes (16-9, 6-6 Big 12). He is the third Colorado player this season to garner Big 12 weekly honors (Stephane Pelle, Jan. 27) and David Harrison, Nov. 25).
