DENVER -- Colorado recruit Parker Orms won the Class 4A state championship for Wheat Ridge High School today at Invesco Field at Mile High, coming through with a performance all young players dream about as boys in the backyard.

Parker Orms was simply dominant in the Farmers' 35-31 victory over Greeley West, but his final carry of the game made him a legend at his school.

With his team trailing by three points on fourth-down-and-two and 19 seconds remaining, Orms took a hand off on a draw play and found a soft spot in the defense, racing 56 yards for the winning score.

It capped a day in which Orms rushed for 275 yards on 38 carries with five touchdowns. Orms had more than 400 all-purpose yards, including kick returns.

Orms committed to Colorado earlier this month and is likely to play safety for the Buffs, though CU coach Dan Hawkins is one to give players a honest opportunity on the other side of the ball if the player really has his heart set on playing one position over the other.

The victory was a fairy tale finish to an undefeated season for Orms and his teammates. Orms has dreamed of playing for the Buffs, too, and that will soon become the center of his attention. But he's going to enjoy this moment for awhile.
