Bredl still waiting for offers

The Colorado football program welcomes in-state prospects to each of its home games every week. One regular in attendance this fall is a big tight end who believes he's likely to play tackle at the next level.

Josh Bredl, a 6-foot-7, 255-pound tight end from Horizon High School, spent part of his senior season injured with a partially torn labrum in his shoulder. It has probably affected his recruitment.

"I had to do a bunch of physical therapy, but I am recovered," Bredl said.

A handful of programs continue to show interest in him but he is patiently waiting for scholarship offers with national signing day three months away. He said he wants to play for CU.

Bredl said he is in regular contact with Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Kansas State and Boise State and has to get his test scores up to be qualified. He said everyone of those programs is either waiting to receive film of his senior season or is in the process of reviewing it. He said none of those programs has asked him to be a walk-on.

"They're waiting to see film of me this season, and I've been finally getting all that to them," he said.

Missing a large chunk of your senior season in high school is bad timing for any recruit. Bredl appears to be a project at this point but still could get a few offers if he improves his test scores and can prove to coaches that he is healthy and not an immediate injury risk.

The worst case scenario is becoming an invited walk-on somewhere, maybe even in Boulder, or attending a junior college if his academic record requires it.
