Witherspoon Looking For Best Fit

Wesley Witherspoon

Wesley Witherspoon, the point forward from Lilburn, Ga., is among the top players in the recruiting class of 2008 yet to sign with a school. He's also considered one of the top prospects overall. Witherspoon visited Colorado in March. He's set to announce his final decision Thursday.

After being courted by dozens of major programs the past year, Wesley Witherspoon is deciding between Colorado, Memphis, Texas and Virginia, and will announce his decision Thursday in a press conference at his school, Berkmar High, after classes are done for the day.

Witherspoon took an official visit to Memphis this past weekend. He said he found the Memphis team members were still feeling pretty good, even in the wake of their loss to Kansas in the NCAA Championship game.

"They're still in high spirits," Witherspoon said. "I don't think there's anything in this world that could separate those guys."

The lanky 6-foot-8 player tripped to Boulder to check out the Colorado program in late March.

"It was nice. I really enjoyed myself out there," he said, adding that he wasn't a fan of the cold weather in Boulder during his visit.

Colorado still has at least three scholarships to give for the 2008 class.

Witherspoon averaged just under 19 points, 10 boards and five assists as a senior at Berkmar. He's got the kind of game — passing may be his best skill — that makes those around him better. Scout.com ranks him the No. 56 player overall in the 2008 class, and the No. 12 small forward.

What's he looking for most in a program?

"It's really just going to come down to where I fit in the best," Witherspoon said.
