As CU head basketball coach Ricardo Patton interviews for the coaching vacancy at Middle Tennessee State University, sources within the University of Colorado have said ex-Iowa State Cyclone and Chicago Bulls head coach Tim Floyd may take the reigns at Colorado.

CU men's basketball coach Ricardo Patton's family vacation to Atlanta took an interesting twist and turned into a job interview.

On Friday, Patton will interview for the head- coaching job at Middle Tennessee State University, where he was an assistant from 1988-1990.

Middle Tennessee State is part of the Sun Belt Conference and is searching to replace Randy Weil as coach.

While Patton has denied reports from a Denver radio station claiming he already has the job, he has admitted to talking with MTSU athletic director Boots Donnelly about arranging the interview.

As Patton contemplates his future with CU, BuffsInsider and theinsiders.com have learned from sources within the University of Colorado that the head coaching job at CU will be offered to former Iowa State and Chicago Bulls head coach Tim Floyd.

One of the keys to getting Floyd to Boulder is the fact he coached at ISU while CU President Dr. Elizabeth Hoffman was Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and sciences.

Floyd coached at Iowa State for four years (1995-1998) before going on to the NBA and finished with an 81-47 record and three NCAA tournament appearances.

Patton's seven-year record at CU is 105-91.
