Burton Returns from Boulder

Marcus Burton was one of eight players to visit Boulder over the weekend. The fast, aggressive Texas linebacker de-committed from Washington State to become a Buff. Is he solid on CU after the trip?

Height: 6-1
Weight: 220
40 time: 4.56
Bench: 330
Squat: 515
Vertical:'30
From: Channelview, Texas
High School: Channelview

"Oh yeah, I am done," Burton explained. "I am ready to get there and perform."

His player host was Alonzo Barrett. "We just ate a lot with the team. We hung out at some of their houses and went to a little get-together that one of the linebackers was having. It was all pretty relaxed."

Burton had a chance to sit down with the CU coaches to get their plans for him. "They told me that my best fit would probably be at the SAM spot, outside linebacker. They say depending on how ready I am, I could play. If not, they may redshirt me."

Channleview assistant and former Buff, Cedric Cormier, says of Burton. "He's been a real impact player. His first two years in high school he was a defensive end. His freshman year he had 22 sacks. But he always wanted to be a linebacker. His junior year he was kind of overweight. But he lost a lot of weight and got down to bout 220 pounds this year. He was just a force all over the field this year.

"He has a strong work ethic. He's one of those kids that's the first one to get out there on the practice field and the last one to leave. He's always running extra sprints. He's a real self-motivated kid. He runs on the track team, the 400 and 200."

Coach (Chris) Wilson will be in Channelview for an in-home visit on Thursday night. Coach Barnett will make the trek next week.

Burton will be majoring in Communications.
