"I went to Boulder last week with my parents and they hadn't met the coaches yet," explained Zimmerer. "After meeting with the coaches, my parents felt comfortable with them. So I told them that I was going to commit and they agreed with my decision. I called Coach Wristen on Thursday to tell him."

Jon Wristen was the main recruiter for CU with Zimmerer.

"They have told me I will be a d-end there, but I could also play at other positions."

Kansas State was leading for the Air Academy prospect for quite some time but he says, "I haven't heard from them in a couple weeks. Oregon called me last weekend. It doesn't matter, Colorado is where I'm going."

Zimmerer has seen time at fullback and tight end for Air Academy this fall. On defense, he plays at end. "I have five catches and two carries on offense. I think I have around seven tackles a game on defense. I also have a lot of quarterback knockdowns and batted balls."

His squad is 3-2 on the season and takes on Pueblo Central, this Friday.

Zimmerer still has some work to do grade-wise before he can get into CU. "I only scored a 16 on my first ACT so I have to take it again October 25th. I have a 2.9 core GPA and as long as I keep my grades up, like I have been, I'll be fine there."

He would like to major in Sociology or Psychology at CU and will take his official visit in December.
