Buffs Land Nation's no.28 Tight End

The next Daniel Graham?

Jersey Village TE Gabe Ratcliff has an in-home meeting scheduled this Thursday with CU head man Gary Barnett. And Buffalo fans have a sneaking suspicion the Big 12/Texas Hot 100 selection will give an oral commitment to the Buffs then. Well, folks he's decided to go public about his college decision now...

"I've already decided dawg," Ratcliff said, "I'm going to CU. Go ahead and put it out there. At first, I wanted to think about it, and my mom still wants to meet the coaches since that's kind of far away, but I'm committed to CU."

In essence, the Jersey Village prep is Colorado's to lose. How's that for pressure? If Momma says, 'No,' then Ratcliff will have to utilize his persuasion skills because as far as he's concerned, "I'm a Buffalo."

A few of the reasons he picked the Black and Gold?

"I'll get to play against some of the teams that recruited me in the Big 12," said the state's No. 61. "Teams like Texas A&M, Missouri and Texas are teams we have to play."

And he's got a buddy already up there hailing from his neck in the woods...

"Marcus Hall plays basketball for them and I've know him for the last six to seven years," Ratcliff said. "And that's all you can ask for. To know somebody already up there and a chance to play early, that's straight."

A veteran of the official visit process -- kid's already taken 4 trips -- he said, "Everybody's told me basically what they thought I wanted to hear. But the Colorado coaches answered every one of my questions and they pulled out Daniel Graham's highlight tape saying that that could be me if I come ready to play. They have a history of using the tight end in their offense. Dan caught 55 balls one year and won the John Mackey award. So, I feel like they're telling me the truth when they talk about utilizing the tight end in their offense."

The 6-2.5, 229-pounder said while he's busy averaging a double-double on the hardwood, he'll be gettin' busy on the weights after that and through the summer.

"I'll be heading to Boulder this summer to work out with the team. I have a chance to play as a true freshman. They said working hard and learning the offense will dictate playing time. That I will travel with the team and that I will be used if I'm ready."

Make no mistake about it, he plans on being ready...
