Mortensen Has Offers, Awaiting More

Joe was the top LB at the Palo Alto Nike Camp

Colorado could use another linebacker, or two in this class to go along with Brad Jones. "Colorado called me in May,"said Mortensen."I have not heard from them this month, yet."

Schools he has heard from since last Monday include Nebraska, San Jose State, Fresno State, Southern Cal, and UCLA.

He has offers from the Huskers, Fresno State, and San Jose State. His top five are currently Southern Cal, Nebraska, Washington, UCLA, and Cal.

"Southern Cal and Nebraska are my two leaders. I don't have a favorite between the two."

Even though the Buffs aren't in his top five, Joe does have plenty of interest in them.

"First of all, I love the atmosphere. They also run that Buffalo across the field. You can't beat that. The Rockies are just beautiful. I was going to go to camp there but I couldn't get it worked out."

All schools involved like Joe as a LB. He plays his first game next weekend versus College Park. Then there is a big one down the line versus De La Salle. Joe likes his team's prospects for that game.

"I think if we can stop the run we have a great chance at competing with them."

Mortensen carries a 3.2 GPA and has scored a 940 on his SAT but he would like to take it again in hopes of scoring over 1000 on it. Joe would like to major in Sports Medicine. He also would like to get into coaching.

"I just want to find some way to stay around the game."
