One of the biggest unknowns and perhaps the top storyline for Colorado’s Fall Camp surrounds the quarterback position.
Mike MacIntyre has been clear that Connor Wood emerged after spring ball as the Buffs No 1 signal caller headed into fall camp.
There has been a lot of attrition at the position over the summer, seeing one quarterback leave to concentrate on medical school and another to transfer to play college basketball.
There are five signal callers competing for the top spot, but four headed into fall camp with the status of Jordan Webb is unknown at this time due to an injury and off the field issues.
BuffPlayBook.com caught up with sophomore signal caller Stevie Joe Dorman after Tuesday’s first practice.
“I thought today was a good first day’s practice for the offense,” Dorman said. “We are all excited about this fall, glad to get out here and get fall camp started.”
Dorman, who enters fall camp listed as the No. 2 quarterback on the pre-season 2 Deep Depth Chart, credited all the signal callers for a commitment of hard work this summer.
“The two young guys have come out here and put a tremendous amount of work in this summer,” Dorman said. “We are excited about this season, Connor has worked extremely hard and I have given it my best as well.”
Dorman feels like that the competition for the starting role is far from over.
“No matter who is No. 1 or No. 4 right now, we are all competing for the job,” Dorman said. “Everyone is going to get a lot of reps this fall camp, it will be a battle for all of us.”
Dorman doesn’t appeared to be worried about only four quarterbacks entering fall camp.
“I feel good about the guys we got on the roster,” Dorman said. “All the changes has brought us all closer together, we are all working extremely hard for success this season.”
