Getting a great education has one California athlete considering the University of Colorado.
Outside linebacker Louis Vecchio currently has nine offers, with three of those offers coming from Ivy League schools. According to the talented defender, it’s Colorado’s academic reputation that has him looking a lot at the Buff Football Program.
“I’m an academic type of guy,” Vecchio told BuffPlayBook.com Tuesday evening. “I like the fact that Colorado has such a high reputation as an academic school.”
Although Vecchio has been unable to take an unofficial visit to Colorado this summer, he plans on taking an official visit to Boulder in the fall.
“I was suppose to go up for a camp but wasn’t able to get there,” Vecchio said. “I probably will take an official visit to Colorado.”
Another positive for Vecchio is the fact that Colorado has a new coaching staff.
“I have been impressed with their new coaching staff,” Vecchio said. “I like the fact they have a new head coach, it means they will be coaching there for a while.”
According to Vecchio, Colorado is definitely recruiting him the hardest.
“I get 15-20 pieces of mail from them a week,” Vecchio admitted. “Although I haven’t been to the campus, it seems like I have because of all the visual things I have seen about Colorado.”
It appears that Vecchio could play on either side of the ball at the college level.
“Originally Colorado was recruiting me to play tight end,” Vecchio said. “Now they are talking about me playing on either side of the ball. I like playing both, maybe I can do a mixture of both at the next level.”
Vecchio, a 6-foot-3 230-pound athlete, will most likely wait and make his final decision after his senior season.
“My focus is going to be on finishing out my high school career on a high note,”
