Over 300 Texas athletes turned out to a summer camp at Houston Baptist University this past Friday night, with the coaching staff of the University of Colorado serving as guest coaches.

Several Houston area athletes that hold offers from the Buffs were in attendance, giving them an up close opportunity to see first hand how it would be to be coached by this coaching staff.

One area athlete that participated in the Friday night's camp was Northshore standout athlete Najee Toran.

Toran, a 6-foot-4, 250-pound athlete currently holds offers from Colorado, Boise State, Wake Forest, TCU, UH, North Texas and La Tech.

It appears that Toran has a top three favorite.

"Right Now I would have to say Boise State, Colorado and Oregon State," Toran admitted. "I really liked the camp Friday night. Their defensive coaches really seem to know what they were doing. Coach (Jim) Jeffcoat played in the NFL for a long time, he has two Super Bowl Rings."

Toran didn't work out Friday night, but got the chance to watch the Buff coaches in action and got a time to visit with them one on one.

"They told me that they have watched my film and liked the way I play," Toran said. "They are recruiting me as an athlete, to play on either side of the ball on the front lines."

While Toran hasn't made a trip to Boulder, he hopes to do that before the summer is over.

"If I don't make it up there for an unofficial visit this summer, I will definitely take an official visit there," Toran said.

Colorado wide receiver Coach Troy Walters is recruiting Toran for the Buffs and it appears the veteran coach has built a solid relationship with the lineman.

"Coach Walters is a very cool coach," Toran said. "We message each other a lot on FaceBook. We can sit down and talk about just about anything."

One thing that Toran took from the HBU/Colorado Camp Friday night was the atmosphere and energy of the Buff coaching staff.

"They are really high energy and and running around with the players out on the field," Toran said. "I was really impressed of the turn out, I would say there was easily over 300 athletes there."

Toran and his NorthShore Football team made it to the fourth round of the state playoffs last year and hope to make it all the way to state this season.
