All it took for one of Texas top athletes was to take a trip to Boulder.
After camping at Colorado this past weekend, Pflugerville Texas athlete Chance Waz went home Sunday evening to Texas, sit down with his parents and then made the call to Colorado Head Football Coach Mike MacIntyre.
“All it took was the visit,” Waz’s father told BuffPlayBook.com Tuesday afternoon. “After we got home we talked about it as a family, then Chance made the call to Coach MacIntyre.”
Waz told BuffPlayBook.com Sunday afternoon that he really liked the CU Campus.
“It’s incredible here,” Waz said. “I thought it was going to be great from everything I had heard about Boulder and Colorado, it’s even better than I expected it to be.”
Waz, a 6-foot-0, 175-pound athlete with 4.4 to 4.5 speed, currently has offers from Colorado, North Texas, Utah, UTEP, Arkansas State and Texas State.
Waz is impressed with the attitude and family feel that MacIntyre and his staff provides at Colorado.
“Some coaches don’t care about you personally, they just want you to play football for them,” Waz said. “Coach Mac and his staff seem to want to build personal relationships with you, care about you on and off the field. Coach Mac said he wants to develop and help all of his players to make it to the NFL, what high school athlete don’t want to make it to the next level.”
According to Waz, Colorado is recruiting the wide receiver/defensive back to play on the defensive side of the ball.
“They are wanting me to play corner,” Waz said. “I will play where ever they need me to play.”
Waz feels that he learned a lot from the Colorado coaches.
“They are great teachers,” Waz said. “They are really cool coaches, very personable and easy to talk to.”
