Colorado running back Rodney Stewart produced the fifth best single-season rushing performance in school history this fall, but it wasn't enough to earn him even an honorable mention spot on the All-Big 12 team selected by the league's coaches.

Rodney Stewart ran for 1,318 yards in 2010 and moved into fifth place on CU's all-time rushing list in the process.

Yet, when the Big 12 announced its all-conference team Tuesday, including, first and second teams and honorable mention selections, Stewart's name was nowhere to be found. Ten other Buffs were selected to the team, including Nate Solder and Jimmy Smith as first-team members.

"I don't know how, and obviously I'm pretty new to all this, but I don't know how a guy like Rodney Stewart gets left off any of these," interim coach Brian Cabral said. "So I don't understand. I don't know how that happens. I really don't know how this works. Speedy's got my vote. So whatever that's worth."

Stewart carried the ball 290 times this season, second only for one season to Rashaan Salaam's 298 carries in 1994.

When Stewart returns for his senior season next year he will begin to build on his 2,744 career rushing yards and will have a shot at becoming the program's all-time rushing leader. He has the third most yards at the end of his junior season of any CU player in history. Only Salaam and Chris Brown had more and both turned pro after their junior years.

Stewart was not available for comment on Tuesday.
